Vintage Finds of the Week: Cocktail Hats

While vintage cocktail hats are fun to wear all year round, this is the time of year that they are required. Here are my finds for this week (from top to bottom):

Christmas Stockings and Boots; My Glamorous Holiday

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I had a lovely and glamorous time. I absolutely love the Faryl Robin black leather knee high boots my sweetie gave me! Thanks babe!

Here I am dressed up for a Christmas party that was a blast! I am wearing my vintage 1960's wiggle LBD with the matching bolero jacket lined with blue flowers. The necklace is from Angel Court that I got at the Bust Craftacular earlier this month. My red suede shoes are one of my favorite pairs from Marc Fisher. And of course that's one of my feather headbands in my hair. The stockings I got years ago at Marshalls and I can't remember what brand they are. I originally was so excited to wear a pair of vintage seamed black fishnets from my vintage stocking collection that I haven't had a chance to wear yet. Unfortunately, with my height, 5'10", they were way to short and didn't reach my garters. Ugh! So I picked these instead, which are lovely. I have sadly realized that my gams are too long for my vintage stockings. My vintage loss could be your gain. I will be selling my unworn stockings very soon. So all of you lucky petites stay posted!!

And finally here I am in my cherry print bikini (not my best photo but whatev!) at Le Parker Meridien hotel pool! My sweetie and I decided on a "staycation" or "holistay" and spent Christmas Eve at a fab hotel a subway ride away. The penthouse pool overlooking Central Park was amazing and we had a blast!

So far my holiday season has been glamorous! I hope yours has been too.

xoxo and Happy Holidays!

Mid-Week Inspiration: Marilyn Monroe

A collection of 36 photos of Marilyn Monroe sold at a Christies New York auction yesterday for nearly $150,000! They were shot by Bert Stern for American Vogue in 1962. They are believed to be the last professional pictures taken of Marilyn before her death six weeks later. This photo is hauntingly beautiful.

Vintage Finds of the Week: Fur Stoles

With New Year's Eve approaching vintage furs have been on my mind. A fur stole would be a glamorous addition to my wardrobe and vintage fur would be the only fur I'd buy. They are usually in excellent to unworn condition and a great way to recycle. Here's some of my finds.

Vintage Finds of the Week: Barware

Tis the season for cocktail holiday parties! If you're hosting one this year do it in vintage style with these vintage finds of the week. To start with pour your best bourbon and scotch from this art deco decanter set from Idle Holler ($20). Already have a decanter? Be sure to label it for your guests with a vintage decanter label such as the scotch decanter necklace from Dust Design Co. ($35). Shake those cocktails with a stainless steel vintage shaker and glass decorated with essential recipes from Ginchy Gear ($12). And if those recipes aren't enough to satisfy your crowd be sure to have a vintage bartenders guide on hand, like this Old Mr. Boston Guide from Serendipity Treasures (4.95). Shake it up and have a blast!

Stiletto Heights

Stiletto Heights is the creative genius of mixed media artist Jennifer Gordon who claims to be more Katherine Hepburn than Audrey Hepburn. I fell in love with her artwork through her Etsy store where she sells her one of a kind prints, collages, notecards, and more. She mixes fashion images, vintage images, ephemera, letters, and velvet flocking with acrylic and oil paints and pastels to create beautiful and mysterious images like those above. To find out more read her blog at: http://stilettoheights.blogspot.com.

Mid-Week Inspiration: Lady Dior

Oooh I love Paris and I love the new ads for Lady Dior starring Marion Cotillard. She looks amazing perched above Paris on top of the Eiffel Tower clutching her handbag. I do have say that I'm not so into the bag but the shoes are calling my name! Gorgeous!
