Mid-Week Inspiration: Mercura Cigarette Holders

I don't smoke. But if I did I have always said that I would use a cigarette holder. When I saw these photos from Mercura NY I was mesmerized. I just have to share how beautiful they are. Even without the gorgeous jeweled cigarette holders these photos are a complete inspiration. Mercura NY is known for making fabulous and unusual eyewear since the mid-1970's. I think these cigarette holders are a great addition to their collection. Credits: Jamie Bochert photographed by Greg Kadel and styled by Patti Wilson

Mid-Week Inspiration: In the Line of Fashion
I have always been in love with fashion illustration. Yesterday I went to the Society of Illustrators new exhibit In the Line of Fashion. This beautiful and very inspiring exhibit showcased fashion illustrations from the 20's through 2008. Illustrations used to be more prominent in fashion magazines than they are now and peaked in the 40's and 50's. This exhibit has inspired me to break out the old sketch book and start illustrating again. It's been years, I may be rusty, but it may be time to get started again. Pictured here are a few of my favorites from the show. Top to bottom: Untitled by Alvaro (date unknown), Untitled by McClelland Barclay (40's), The Bumble Bee Girl by Karen Santry(2007)

Easter Goodies: MarieBelle Chocolates

Mmmm I love MarieBelle chocolates! Yesterday I went to the Soho MarieBelle Cacao Bar for some Easter chocolate treats. The chocolates are not only delicious but also beautifully decorated and packaged. Being such a sucker for packaging I was in heaven. On a vintage fashion note, there is even a whole line of chocolate bars with pin-up wrappers! Not in New York? You can order online at www.mariebelle.com.

Fashionable History: The Baker Electric
Electric cars are slowly starting to become more popular today but surprisingly in the early 1900's electric cars made up 38% of the nation's car market. The Baker Electric (pictured here from Jay Leno's collection) was a virtually maintenance-free and quiet car that became immediately popular among women.
Eventually they were marketed exclusively for women. Designed with parlour-like features inside including a make-up compact with a mirror and a vase for flowers. They became the essential "shopping" car for socialites and very fashionable.
To see the Baker Electric in action go to Jay Leno's Garage.

Mid-Week Inspiration: Chanel Quilted Guitar Case
From the Chanel Spring 2009 RTW collection is this white quilted leather guitar case purse. I am just starting to learn how to play the bass guitar so this may be a must have. But with my budget, it will remain an inspiration to keep practicing! The gloves rock too.
