My View: On Top of the Empire State

My Grandparents spent their honeymoon in the 1930's in NYC. I have always adored this elegant photo of them on top of the Empire State Building. The day after my husband and I got married we withstood the long lines and went up to the top of the Empire State to "recreate" this photo.
Once there, we found it impossible to get a full body shot as my Grandparents did. The deck is too narrow and way too crowded. It looks like my Grandparents had the deck to themselves. Also, note the gate that wasn't there in the 30's. Fascinating.
A view of the Chrysler Building. My favorite.

This view is very close to wear my Grandparents were standing. The view hasn't changed that much. I love it!

Weekend Reading: Links a la Mode

For the Love of Clothes

Edited by Fajr Muhammad at Stylish Thought

If fashion is one thing; it's fun! Whether fashion bloggers are chronicling their ensembles, spring cleaning their wardrobes or finding the perfect colored jean they are loving their clothes. In IFB we discuss fashion from so many angles we often forget the fancy of style and what keeps us blogging: our passion for fashion. This week's Links A La Mode features advice for the perfect poolside ensemble, a comprehensive Q & A on San Fran style and a walk down fashion's memory lane. At the heart of each post are the lovely clothes we wear and adore.

Mid-Week Inspiration: 1940's Turbans

I love these 1940's turbans. I recently bought a vintage green one. I can't wait for next fall to wear it!

My View: Married at City Hall

My blogging has been really sporadic as of late, and for good reason. I have been working long days at my full time job, planning my wedding, looking for an apartment and so much more! Now I can say I am married!! Last Friday, my fiance and I tied the knot at City Hall in Manhattan and had a blast!

I love this City Hall back drop, it was perfect! We had a few friends join us as witnesses and laughed and joked the entire day!
My handsome husband!
For my dress, I shopped in my own closet... I wore an ivory cotton and black tulle Veronique Branquinho dress I bought about 11 years ago at Jeffrey that I never wore! It still had the tags on it. Where has the time gone? I accessorized it with a vintage hat I recently bought at Bombshell Bettie's, back seamed stockings, a 50's Lucite purse I bought in Phoenix, and red suede Marc Fisher shoes.
The necklace belonged to my Memere from the 50's/60's with fabulous blue rhinestones!

Now on to moving into a new apartment and saving up for a honeymoon!

Tipped Off

Edited by Meghan Donovan at WIT & Whimsy

This week's Links a La Mode demonstrates the one thing we fashion bloggers aren't afraid to do. Give advice. With all the shopping, hunting, reading and networking we do across a multitude of channels, it's no surprise that we develop certain skills when it comes to finding the best bargain, tracking down the ultimate vintage find or just knowing how to dress for our body type. Read up on all of this week's posts featured in Links a la Mode for a wealth of information for everything from dos and dont's to curbing those nasty little shopping habits we all can be guilty of here and there.

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time.
Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

In the May 2011 issue of Marie Claire US we rediscover the fabulous bee-hive hairdo! I love it along with the ultra feminine dresses. I also love the highlights!
