The best way to spend Halloween!

Happy Halloween kittens!

EDIT: The show was cancelled due to power outages in the city. I will hopefully get to go when she returns and update you all!

My View: Cocktails at the Cabin

I've decided to add some of my handmade knit and crochet items to my Etsy shop; The Sparkling Cocktail. The store section is aptly named; Cocktails at the Cabin. We all need to look cute while we stay cozy! So far, I've got 4 pairs of fingerless crochet gloves with bows up for grabs!

I debuted these awhile ago- That same Red Donegal tweed with Black and Snowshoe tweed

And one of the first pairs I made- Flagstone tweed with Snowshoe tweed bow and button

I adore this pattern and the subtle herringbone stitch. Some of you may have been following my evolution on this in My Projects series. Other colors in the works are the prettiest ballet pink with black and ivory with solid red trim. What other color combinations would you like? What other styles would you like to stay warm and chic this Winter?

Retro Looks In The Modern World: Une Journee a Paris

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

Classic retro Parisian looks and landmarks remind me of what got me interested in fashion in the first place. This look never gets old or tired. Harper's Bazaar China spends a day in Paris with Miao Bin Si in the October 2012 issue. I'm ready to get on a plane!

My Projects: Let the Knitting (and crochet) Begin!

Look at my new stash of yarn!! The air has turned crisp and I have a lot of catching up to do on all my knitting and crochet projects. Lately, this is all I have felt like doing.

I started this easy ribbed scarf as a way to switch my mind from crochet to knitting. I did a lot of crochet over the summer and then when I want to switch to knitting, I think I have forgotten how. This is a great warm up! I am calling it the Morning Glory Scarf as that is the name of this wonderful purple tweed. This is also a great pattern to do when I am tired and I don't want to follow a pattern.
Do you knit and crochet? Or do you prefer just one or the other?

After warming up by starting the scarf, I then started the Roar Hat. This is a gift for my nephew and the first time I have knitted on circular needles. I'm still a novice so who knows how long this will take me but I would like to get 2 done for Christmas presents. Wish me luck!

These are a finished project from the summer that I don't think I shared with you. These are crocheted fingerless gloves and I love making these. After I get proper photos, they will be listed for sale in my Etsy shop! Stay tuned!

Retro Looks In The Modern World: Miu Miu Resort 2013

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

I love the 60's vibe on the sets of the Resort 2013 Miu Miu campaign. The collection and accessories are wonderful too. Love the hair bows!

My Projects: Gearing Up To Start!

I'm gearing up to start some new knitting projects! These are gifts so considering how slow I am, I can't delay!

This is the Roar Hat. I am making two of these for two of my Nephews for Christmas who are obsessed with dinosaurs. I am going to use similar colors in cotton yarn from Bernat.

I hope mine come out this nice. This one pictured is from NeverFrog on flickr. Isn't it adorable?
Pattern available to download here

This gorgeousness is the Baby Chalice Blanket from Lykkefanten. One of my co-worker's is expecting a baby girl this February so I am going to attempt to knit this. I've yet to knit lace so this will be a complete experiment. I'm going to make this in a pretty soft cotton yellow.

Wish me luck! I will keep you posted on my progress!
