Tim Walker is fast becoming one of my favorite fashion photographers. I always want to "move in" to the dreamy worlds he creates. This editorial is China White from the March issue of Vogue UK. The model is Sasha Ruovarova.

Blog Awards!

Whooo! Hooo! I was recently awarded two blog awards on the same day!

The "Sunshine Award" was handed over from the lovely Weezi!

And the "You're Going Places, Baby" award came from the fashionable Deconstructed Life!
A big blushing thank you goes out to you both and through these awards I was introduced to two fabulous blogs! A treat in itself!
Since these awards arrived at the same time, I am combining them into one with the following rules:
*Choose the award logo you like the best. Include it in your post.
*Pass the award on to 10 bloggers that inspire you in that post with links.
*Of course, let them know!
*And don't forget to link back to who your received the award from. Oh, that would be me!
My inspiring 10 are.....
Congratulations all!!! You will also be added to my blog roll!
xoxo

Retro Looks In The Modern World: Love in Vain

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. This editorial from Fault Magazine has a romantic 30's feel to it. I love the mixture of old floral prints and lace in the interior. Photographed by Waldermar and Max.

Retro Looks In The Modern World: March German Vogue

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. This editorial in the March issue of German Vogue features model Claudia Schiffer as the iconic Frida Kahlo. Even with her blonde hair it's pretty convincing.

Weekend Reading: Links a la Mode

Rants & Raves

Edited by Ashe Mischief
I was taken aback when going through the submissions this week– there were so many powerful, strong, opinionated pieces that I felt really taken aback. With overwhelming positivity or negativity, the fashion community is finding it’s voice– and making themselves heard!

The fashion community is great at sharing the voice of others, and we’ve got several fabulous interviews to prove it. From Derek Lam at Poetic & Chic and White Rabbit’s interview with Irish woman Sinead Doyle (along with my own interview with Amelia Arsenic at Dramatis Personae), there are voices for everyone. We’ve got bloggers ranting on the lack of premium denim in plus-sizes at Denim Debutante (hell yeah!), and some showcasing inspirational figures like KOOS (at M.I.S.S.), Philip Crangi (at Eternal Masquerade), and Maria Felix (at Jewelry Whore).

There were so, so many great links this week, it really was hard to narrow it down to 2o. Check out the full listing of Links à la Mode here.

Fashionable History: Alfred Eisenstaedt's Rockefeller Gals

German American photojournalist, Alfred Eisenstaedt, is probably most well known for the V-Day in Times Square photo above. An iconic image we all know and love. Awhile back I came across this photo series from Eisenstaedt featuring everyday ladies in Rockefeller Center in 1944 for LIFE magazine. I love their flirty dresses!

Mid-Week Inspiration: Collette Dinnigan Fall 2010

Collette Dinnigan is known for her pretty dresses. I especially love and am inspired by her lace dresses from her recent Fall 2010 collection shown in Paris.
Gorgeous!

My Vintage Vanity: Shoes

I'm excited for this new feature here at Bobbins and Bombshells called My Vintage Vanity. In it I will be showcasing some of my favorite vintage items from my own closet and home! It will alternate every so often with the On My Wishlist segments. While I am always coveting some fabulous item out there that I can't afford, I also do extremely appreciate all that I have! I would also LOVE to share some of YOUR favorite vintage items and scores from your fabulous vintage collections! If you would like to participate drop me an email with "My Vintage Vanity" in the subject to be considered. My email is femmefatalevintage@gmail.com. I look forward to hearing from you!

Today I am showcasing my vintage shoes. Being a tall gal with size 10 feet I find myself lusting after vintage shoes more than purchasing them. Trust me when I say these were very hard to find! After ALL of my years buying vintage I only have two pairs!
Above are my late 40's early 50's black leather and suede slingbacks. I found these at Beacon's Closet here in Brooklyn for under $20. I nearly died when they fit!

And these beauties are my favorite. I bought these rhinestone studded gunmetal 50's pumps at Hollywood Regency Vintage in Phoenix, AZ. They are amazingly comfortable! I am lucky my foot is narrow or my chances of fitting into either of these shoes would be even slimmer.

Retro Looks In The Modern World: Runway Recap

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here is a recap round-up of the best retro looks from the recent Fall/Winter 2010 RTW runways from NY, London, Milan and Paris.

In Paris, Rochas showed 60/70's looks complete with A-line dresses, large pointy collars and MOD Beatle boots.
In London, Roksanda Ilincic presented gorgeous 70's inspired drapey and chic silk charmeuse.

In Milan, Prada strutted cat eye glasses and 50/60's Mad Men looks down the runway.

And in New York, Bibhu Mohapatra gave us retro 30/40's glam. This collection was so beautiful I have included two photos.
