Retro Looks In The Modern World: Temp Nouveau

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. This spread from Plaza Watch Magazine, Issue 10, is gorgeous. A tribute to Art Nouveau and Mucha has me intrigued and wanting long red hair!

Weekend Reading: Links a la Mode

Fashion Flashback

Edited by Debutante
As fashion weeks starting winding down, some are looking forward to the next trend in fashion. This week, I was thrilled to see so many bloggers focusing on the past -the history of fashion. An obvious passion of mine, vintage fashion has never been so influential. fête à fête reviews a gorgeous collection of vintage inspired jewelry. Fabulous Finds narrates a 1950s styled romp through Palm Springs. Oranges and Apples shares inspiring vintage Life magazine images. In politics, if you don’t learn from history, you’re destined to repeat it. In fashion, if you don’t learn from history, you won’t know you are repeating it!

Fashionable History: Henry Clarke

In 1945, inspired by Cecil Beaton at a photo shoot for Vogue, Henry Clarke borrowed a Rolleiflex camera and began taking pictures.
In 1949 he moved to Paris. Within a year he became a renowned fashion photographer in his own right. He collaborated with French, English, and American Vogue for the next 25 years.

Henry Clarke loved to capture the elegance of women. He worked with the top models of his time like Suzy Parker, Bettina, and Ann Sainte Marie.

He bequeathed his historical collection of photographs to the Musée de la Mode et du Costume in Paris in 1996.

Mid-Week Inspiration: Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2010

If you are at all familiar with my designs you know I gravitate towards satins and lace. The Fall 2010 collection from Dolce & Gabbana was full of inspiring looks in that vain. I absolutely loved their collection!

I really want this bold flower print coat! So pretty!

I also loved their D&G collection. Full of apres ski sweater dressing with lot's of glamorous fur!
How adorable is that cable knit romper?

On My Wishlist: Keepsake from Fleur of England

The Keepsake collection from Fleur of England is so gorgeous! I love the soft pewter color and the light french lace. I am especially drooling over the kimono pictured above. This is luxury lingerie at it's finest!
