On My Wishlist: XXXtian

Christian Louboutin and Dita Von Teese have collaborated on a small capsule lingerie line. It's cleverly called XXXtian and is available exclusively at the french site glamuse

I love everything about this, the print, the touches of red, and well, every piece! Especially the gown on the right.

I need this robe, too.

On My Wishlist: Gossard Sequins!

Hey Gals! Do you remember these high waisted sequin knickers I was lusting after a couple of years ago?  Well, I have finally found a version that is attainable! Gossard has an amazing sequin set out right now that is va va voom and ready for holiday parties! You know how much I love Gossard, from this post and this post.  It's safe to assume, these will be mine!

On My Wish List: Gossard's Retrolution

Gossard has recently come out with a retro inspired collection, called Retrolution. It has been on my watch list for a while.  It has a fine mixture of retro styling and modern sculpting fabrics to help you out in all the right places. A few pieces are on my wish list:

The Retrolution Slip will give you curve and smooth lines under your sexiest vintage dresses and pencil skirts.  I need this! It also comes in nude- which is a must have and a great bridal piece.

However, the two piece set is what I'm really lusting over. I'm not going to lie, I already purchased this Staylo Plunge bra so it is no longer on my list. I bought it at work (no horrible day job, here!)  and am now waiting for the Waist Cincher to arrive. The bra is very padded, which for me takes some getting used to. What I love, is the deep V plunge and longer line. I am dying for that high waist cincher panty though!! That is still on my wish list, but hopefully not for long.

What do you think? Do you have any of the Retrolution pieces? Do you want them? Would you wear it?

My View: After Christmas Sales!

Do you wait for after the holidays to take advantage of the sales? It is very tempting!

Here are some current sales from Bobbins And Bombshell affiliate sponsors:

Lots of great shoes and boots on sale over at DNA Footwear! I'm eyeing these lace-ups from Seychelles. I used to wear boots like that in the 90's. Miss them!  Click the above DNA Footwear banner to get to the sale.

Dresses from Shabby Apple

Ooooh! Shabby Apple is having a sitewide sale! Sitewide! Enter code NewYears at checkout to get 20% off everything, including already marked down items. Click the banner above to get to the sale.
I'm eyeing (may be ordered after I write this post) this leopard skirt.

And if a leopard skirt is not enough, I'm also seriously considering the Josephine Corselette from What Katie Did! I could use a really good shaper after all of the holiday goodies I consumed this year!

My View: Lipstick, Corselettes, and Curls!

It's so hard to follow everyone on every social media channel these days. I know I can't keep up! Here's a review of some of my recent Instagram pics. To keep Instagram, you know, instant, follow me @bobbinbombshell!

My new Guerlain lipstick! The case is a pop up mirror. So James Bond and the shade, Genna, is a perfect red! Guerlain made the first bullet tube of lipstick. They have not stopped innovating!

Oooh La La! My new Gossard Corselette!  You may remember me gushing over vintage Gossard corsets here

The Empire State in red behind one of my favorite buildings. Taken on my walk to pilates.

And then here's my evolution of naturally straight hair to vintage curls:

1. The wet-set is in place. I wear these all day and to bed!

2. The next morning- pre brush out.

3. Ready to go to work!

Fashionable History: The Bullet Bra

Did I ever tell you that I got the What Katie Did Bullet Bra that was On My Wish List? Well, I did plus a whole lot more! I got the Harlow Bra in Vintage Peach and I love it. It's pictured above with the complete set. I did get the padding too as recommended for my 32B's. This cone is a real cone so I need all of the help that I can get! I love it with my vintage dresses that were, quite frankly designed with this type of lingerie in mind.

All of this fun, got me wondering about the history of the bullet bra so I did a little research:

The Bullet Bra originated in the 40's. Since it was Wartime, the name makes sense. Brassiere makers were experimenting with different kind of stitching  and insets to give us girls a lift. Underwires won't be used for a couple decades later.

A great example of creative stitching and shapes used to give an uplifted cone shape. My Harlow Bra is a near replica!

Marilyn made the Bullet Bra popular in the 50's. Pin-ups and girl next door types a like loved the shape it gave them under sweaters. They were called "Sweater Girls".

In the 60's the popularity wained as underwires were used and a more natural and smaller shape was desired. Madonna and Jean Paul Gaultier brought it back in the early 90's where she wore the extreme cones as outerwear.

If you're like me, you may have a hard time finding an authentic vintage one in your size. The modern manufacturer What Katie Did makes new ones as well as other retro inspired lingerie and swimwear to ease your hunt! I love this two tone one called the Marlene. It's next on my list!

On My Wish List: What Katie Did Bullet Bra

This lovely Bullet Bra from What Katie Did won't stay on my wish list for long. In a two weeks I will be on vacation in sunny LA. Once there I am making a bee line to the What Katie Did boutique to get myself this bra. I've been wanting one for a while and now that this UK brand is stateside it makes it easier to try on. I love this look and it's time to take the plunge. Do you have one? Do you wear it on a daily basis or only with vintage? What do you think?

You don't think she got this look naturally do you?

Retro Looks In The Modern World: La Perla Fall/Winter 2011 Collection

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

I was really torn as to which series to apply these images, here or On My Wish List, as I do really want it all! However the 1920's retro styling in this La Perla ad campaign is too beautiful to not be the focus. Just gorgeous!
