Retro Looks In The Modern World: Caprices

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

The 70's does '40's is well represented in this fashion spread from Grazia France-September 2013. I love that mixture and this spread keeps it girly and spirited.

This shoot is stunning and deeply layered. Inspired by the menswear influence in the 70's does 40's Harlem and it is spot on and chic! Originally featured in the Fall/Winter 2013/2014 edition of French Revue de Modes.

Retro Looks In The Modern World: No Road Is Long With Good Company

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

I love the late 1960's/ early 1970's British cinematic quality of this spread for i-D Magazine. The clothes  are retro and timeless.

My Vintage Vanity: Party Purses

I've listed some pretty cocktail party and wedding worthy vintage purses in my Etsy shop; The Sparkling Cocktail! Let's have a look:

My Vintage Vanity Bobbins and Bombshells

This 1970's La Regale woven cream raffia purse is timeless and a wardrobe essential. Even though it's woven straw, the colors are perfect for Autumn and Thanksgiving parties. Yes I said it! The holidays are right around the corner!

Perfect for Holiday parties or a Saturday night. This 1960's metallic gold purse can also be used as a clutch. I love the ruffles!

Vintage white beaded purses are a classic and great for weddings; either for the Bride or attendee. This one is no exception. This 1960's vintage beaded purse is covered in white seed beads with iridescent white bugle beads creating a pretty leaf motif. This can also be used as a clutch.

Which one is your favorite?

Retro Looks In The Modern World: An Homage to Antonio

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

This week's edition of Retro Looks In The Modern World is more of an homage than a retro inspired fashion editorial.  And I have to say it is amazing!

MAC Antonio Retro Looks in the Modern World Bobbins and Bombshells

MAC has come out with a line of make-up inspired by the late and great fashion illustrator Antonio. Marisa Berenson, Jerry Hall, and Pat Cleveland who all got their start modeling in the 70's, with Antonio's help star in the campaign in disco era inspired gowns and shoes. Don't they look amazing?

Style Icon: Angelica Huston

Angelica Huston is a beautiful actress. In her modeling days in the 1970's she became a favorite of photographers such as Bob Richardson (whom she had a relationship with) and Richard Avedon. She was also a muse to designer Halston. Her 70's style has long been an inspiration. Here are some shots from her modeling career.

On the right. Love that outfit!

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks In The Modern World.

I love the polished 70's glam in this editorial for the F/W 2011 issue of AnOther Magazine. The clothes and styling are fantastic but I have to say the Jaguar steals the spotlight here!
