Shop News: The Ma Cherie Series

It's Bridal Season! Some of my best selling items in my Etsy shop, The Sparkling Cocktail, are my handmade bridal garters.  I have created garters in several different series that come in different colors. All of my garters are made up of a minimum of 5 parts; two kinds of laces, satin ribbon on the front and back and elastic in the casing. No stretch lace here!

Today I'm featuring my series called Ma Cherie. The trim on this series is a pretty vintage lace bow in ivory with a pearl bead center. Hanging down are three ivory satin tassels.
Here is a highlight of some of the colors available. All listings are for sets. Single tossers can also be requested.

Dark Emerald Velvet! Perfect for a winter wedding, should you be planning ahead!

Black and Ivory. With a rose pearl. I love this combination!

My Projects: Veils and Garters

This past week I was busy working on a custom wedding veil for a co-worker. She wanted a large and poufy birdcage veil to wear with her gorgeous and simple Vera Wang ivory dress. I got the widest netting in 18" ivory and attached it to a comb. This is the veil here, not completely finished. We are going to add more decoration when she decides what she wants. So for now we have the basic shape. At the moment she is deciding if she wants to wear it centered on her head as shown above or on the side for an asymmetrical look (shown below).
Which do you prefer?
I'll post more pics soon when it's all complete. Hopefully with the bride in her gorgeous dress!

I also made up some new garter styles for my Etsy shop, The Sparkling Cocktail! The one above and below is the Ma Cherie series. It features wide lace on the bottom, a narrow lace on top with a solid satin ribbon elastic casing. The decoration is a vintage ivory lace bow with a pink pearl and ivory satin ribbon strands.

This beauty is the Ma Fleur. Organza ribbon with narrow lace trim and satin ribbon elastic casing. The flower is handmade in the prettiest ballet pink satin ribbon with a pearl center! More colorways to come!!

My Projects: Garters

It's time to put the "Bobbins" back in Bobbins and Bombshells! The road to recovery since my hand injury and surgery last November has been a long one, and I'm still on it. But I can sew again for a short time before my hand gets really tired. So I have started by sewing up some accessories for my shop The Sparkling Cocktail and I am excited to be once again sharing my projects with you. I am also excited to be putting into reality ideas that I've had since before my injury...what a relief! The direction I'm going into is boudoir bridal. To start I made up some garters the other night. Inspired by Jean Harlow in the pre-code film Red Headed Woman (shown above), I've been making sets with lockets attached. Of course devilish Jean had a picture of the man she was out to get in her locket but they are also a great for holding a picture of your Groom on your wedding night. **Hint Hint** These make great bridal shower gifts!

This picture is also great inspiration!

Ribbons, lace, and lockets!

Garters ready to be decorated.

A finished product!

Some are already listed in my shop, The Sparkling Cocktail, so have a look! More will be made and listed soon.
