Retro Looks In The Modern World: An Homage to Antonio

As much as the modern fashion world looks forward it also continually looks back in time. Here we explore Retro Looks in the Modern World.

This week's edition of Retro Looks In The Modern World is more of an homage than a retro inspired fashion editorial.  And I have to say it is amazing!

MAC Antonio Retro Looks in the Modern World Bobbins and Bombshells

MAC has come out with a line of make-up inspired by the late and great fashion illustrator Antonio. Marisa Berenson, Jerry Hall, and Pat Cleveland who all got their start modeling in the 70's, with Antonio's help star in the campaign in disco era inspired gowns and shoes. Don't they look amazing?

On My Wish List: Estee Lauder Mad Men Collection

Yes,  I am lusting for the limited edition Mad Men collection from Estee Lauder. It includes one lipstick in Cherry and a creme blush in Evening Rose in classic Estee Lauder packaging from the 60's. How gorgeous is that compact? I am especially intrigued by the creme blush as it doesn't seem to be so shimmery and glittery like every other blush out there today.
I better hurry as it's been out for awhile since the Season 5 of Mad Man premiered last month. Available at bloomingdales.com or esteelauder.com

Silk Spectre

The Minutemen
Silk Spectre Pin-up

Silk Spectre I am not a huge comic book or graphic novel fan. I don't know much about all of the super heroes and such but I do love a good dark and visually stunning film, like The Watchmen. I took my BF yesterday to see it for his birthday and I really enjoyed it. Of course, I loved the the look of the 1940's group The Minutemen and Silk Spectre. I loved her super hero outfit, and her glorious pin-up hair. There were a lot of flashbacks in the film showing some great vintage looks from the 40's onward to the mid 80's. The costumes and makeup are great and worth checking out alone. But the story line, killer fight scenes, and suspense had me just as intrigued!

Product Review: Pin-up Cosmetics

Cosmetics are my downfall, especially when I need an inexpensive pick-me-up. My latest delight is Pin-up Cosmetics, loose eye dust in a dark emerald sea green. I've been wearing it quite regularly. For only $12 my little jar will last quite a while. And with all the attention I've been getting it's well worth it! There is something about sparkly green eyeshadow that makes men wild! I am also in love with the creme shadows. They offer a nice smooth and sparkly finish and are so easy to apply. The color Satin Lace is my favorite, a soft snowy white color that highlights my brow bones perfectly! Pin-up Cosmetics is the brain child of San Francisco based make up artist, Aprill Lacey. Her mission is to "release your inner pin-up". With her help, it's working!
