My Projects: White Swiss Dot Peasant Blouse

You may remember my Peasant Blouse Series from last Summer. This Summer, I discovered some white Swiss dot in my fabric stash and decided to make one more peasant blouse. This is also an entry for the vintage pledge!

I used this vintage pattern. Butterick 9768. 

Here it is! Photos taken early morning at home before heading off to work. 

I paired it with an olive green pencil skirt that I also made at the beginning of the season. I made the skirt from a rub-off pattern of a favorite skirt of mine. Stay tuned for more information and a tutorial on that project! 

Accessories include a vintage turquoise necklace that was a gift from my husband and a leopard belt. The blouse is also quite sheer, even though you can't tell from the photos. I wore a pretty floral longline bra underneath, which made this outfit one of my favorites this Summer!

My Projects: Black Swiss Dot Peasant Blouse

After being inspired to make myself some peasant blouses this Summer, I have one of several complete! 

I used black Swiss dot and vintage pattern Butterick 9768 pictured below. Like the lady in blue, I paired mine with a gingham skirt. 

The pattern is super simple and fast, which I am hoping will mean I can find the time to complete at least two more before the Summer is over.  I would love even more! 

Photos were taken last Saturday on a very hot day here in Brooklyn on our way to the Renegade Craft Fair. 

I love this blouse and I can't wait to make more!

I spent last Sunday at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The magnolias and cherry blossoms are blooming! 

Springtime brings on spring cleaning! I took this shot of my 1950's vintage liquor cabinet after dusting. 

I'm so bad at sharing my outfits! I just can't seem to find the time to take photos or I hate the ones I do! 

Anyway, I am trying.  Here I am in my vintage DVF wrap dress. I love this dress!

My Vintage Vanity: Hand Painted Mexican Circle Skirt

 I recently wore one of my favorite vintage pieces to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on one of the most sunniest gorgeous days we've had this Spring. This vintage hand painted Mexican circle skirt is amazing. I bought it at Guvnor's in Brooklyn with some vintage trade money.  I am wearing it with a basic white tank- Old Navy, gold sandals- Aerosoles, and my vintage 1960's gold plastic confetti purse. The latter I failed to get a picture of. My apologies, I do not do outfit posts very often. 

The skirt is black linen with amazing hand painted ladies and palms with gold, bronze, silver, blue, white and orange paint. 

Each lady going around the skirt are wearing hand painted circle skirts themselves with white frilly crinolines! 

My vermillion coral pedicure and gold sandal. I love vermillion this season! 

My Vintage Vanity: Fur Shawl Collar Cardigan

 I simply adore my ivory fur collar cardi I scored in Phoenix a couple of years ago! It adds glamour to the simplest of outfits. Rhinestones, fur, lace lining! What's not to love? I have a similar one in black with brown fur that I got on Etsy awhile ago too. I can see a collection forming. 

I usually wear this to work with either a pencil skirt or over a vintage dress to stay warm. Here is how I wore it out to brunch over the weekend:

 Wide leg jeans from Grey Ant. I bought those at Intermix in Miami years ago. The first jeans or pants for that matter that I have ever had to cut or hem. You can't tell in these photos but I'm pretty tall and usually long jeans are hard to find! 

 My bracelet, while hard to see here, was a gift from my husband. It's a 1950's "copy" bracelet, meaning the original owner in the 50's had the real diamond one safe and sound in her safe! This was her duplicate to wear out. 

 Oh, and do you like my new Bettie bangs? 

 Bone platforms from Chelsea Crew. I bought these in Brooklyn.
