The Fall 2013 Louis Vuitton ad campaign is so beautiful and 1930's romantic! The look is retro inspired slips worn underneath fur coats. Fairly simple but styled so wonderfully. I can't wait for more of this campaign to be released!

Mid-Week Inspiration: Mint Siren

Vintage and modern lingerie have always been a huge inspiration for me and always will be. I get really excited when a lingerie line like Mint Siren appears. Discovered on Twitter, their retro inspired items are the right mix of sweet and naughty. Items are available in their web shop and hopefully will be available stateside soon.

My Projects: Custom Wedding Dress

Now that the swimsuit cover ups are done, I can fully concentrate on this very special and very exciting project. I have been commissioned to make a wedding dress based on my own design shown above! The Bride to be found me through my Etsy store, The Sparkling Cocktail, where similar styles are for sale. The dress, although made from my own pattern not a vintage one, is very retro inspired with a bias cut skirt and side godets. We decided on the most gorgeous shade of champagne silk charmeuse to replace the black, and a special champagne French lace with a slight metallic silver thread to replace the chiffon in the side godets. The photos below do not give these fabrics justice but will give you an idea. I will show photos of the finished product soon!

Retro Looks From Milan: Dolce & Gabbana

Dolce & Gabbana's Fall 2009 RTW collection was a lot of fun and showed a lot of retro 40's and 50's inspired pieces. Some quite literal like the 50's style prom gown with Marilyn Monroe's image silkscreened all over the poufy skirt. And other's with a twist that would make Elsa Schiaparelli proud, like the gloves used as scarves and belts. My favorite is the top picture! Glam!
