My Vintage Vanity: New Finds For My Dresser Top

I've recently purchased a few vintage pieces for my bedroom on Etsy. The first is a vintage mirror tray that was painted white to give it a cottage look. I have it displayed on my dresser top. I've wanted one for awhile, and always wished I had kept mine from childhood. I wasn't sure I wanted to stray away from the common brass edgings, but I'm thrilled with the white!
You can see a little bit of the white edging here. I love displaying my ring swan on it!

Perfumes and other girly items belong on a mirror tray.

Here you can get a better look at how well the white trim goes with the decor. I found this mirror tray at Tarnished Hinge.

This lovely lady, is my first head vase. A Napco in pretty yellow and gold! Isn't she pretty?

She is housing my make-up brushes on my vanity. A perfect spot for her! I found her in the Etsy shop Reminisce47.

Have you made any good vintage purchases lately? Please share!

Mid-Week Inspiration: White Interiors

There is a strong part of me that really wants to move into an all white house. I think this feeling comes about in the Winter months or perhaps due to the start of a new year. I love the simple nature of it, plus the rustic charm. I love the different shades of white put together and the surprising depth that it has. Here's some inspiration.

Mid-Week Inspiration: Floral Wallpaper

Wallpaper is making a big comeback! I am especially loving floral prints lately! If I wasn't renting I would love an accent wall in my bedroom with anyone of these gorgeous prints.

Asian floral. Traditional and yet seems so fresh!

Peony watercolor. Love.

White flowers on a colored background is the way to go!

I love all of the colors here, mixed together.

My Vintage Vanity: 1950's Liquor Cabinet

You may remember my quest for a bar cart for my living room. Well it has finally been realized! But instead of a cart my Husband and I found this beautiful half moon 1950's buffet. We couldn't resist it and now it serves as our bar and as a room divider to our open kitchen/living room space! We love it!

Lot's of shelves and mirrored front doors!

Plenty of storage!

The cheese tray we received as a wedding present doubles as a tray.

I bought my husband this 1960's portable glass rack when we were dating for drinks on his roof. I love the colored glasses.

What do you think? What do you use as your liquor cabinet?

My Vintage Vanity: My Vanity

I was going to do this post solely on my new vintage vanity stool I scored on my recent visit to North Carolina. I bought it for $20 and it is exactly what I've been looking for. It fit nicely in the luggage compartment on the Amtrak train home. My husband carried it back to Brooklyn from Penn Station for me. I might re-upholster it but for now the pale pink is nice.
What do you think?

But then I thought, why not showcase my whole vanity. It is in fact vintage from the Deco period and belonged to my Grandmother. Here it is above. Stay tuned for next week and I will show you the entire  bedroom set.

I also have lot's of vintage goodies on the vanity. You may remember my vintage lipstick holders, there they are. I also have a lovely vintage milk glass lamp I purchased on Etsy. And oh yes! I did get the Estee Lauder Mad Men Creme Blush! I love it!

Here are my perfumes and jewelry boxes. The doily runner my Grandmother made, I have a bunch of them!

Do you remember my post about my quilted satin glove box collection? Here they are storing all sorts of things from necklaces, scarves, bracelets, and gloves!

My VIntage Vanity: Apron Curtains

Needing curtains for my single kitchen window and wanting something cute, I hung two of my vintage aprons! It saved me from buying or making curtains and it's unique. What do you think?

On My Wishlist: Liquor Cart

The first thing on my list is a larger apartment but that doesn't mean I can't start planning on how to fill it! I currently have two shelves in my kitchen that store my liquor and glassware but I think it would be nice to relocate it all to the living room. Here are some ideas involving bar carts which remind me of old movies where the scotch was always close by.

Or maybe I could forget the cart and just get a whole armoire!

Where do you store your liquor at home? Hidden or for all to see? Do you use decanters?

I'm dreaming of the day I have a bigger apartment and can decorate all over again! Until then I'm saving my money and collecting ideas. I love everything in the Etsy shop Jolie Marche and would really love to have these gorgeous pillows!
The store is filled with burlap pillow covers, table linens, and home decor items with pretty french script and vintage images.
